ESTELLE COLTON Estelle Colton passed away on November 17, 2003, after a protracted struggle with metastatic breast cancer. To those close to her, Stella Colton was an enigma wrapped in a puzzle. An individual of enormous drive and energy, no one was ever more certain of what they desired from life or more circumspect of what that might be. Had she chosen a public or professional path she would have been regarded as formidable. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. A natural athlete, she excelled in curling and drove herself to the limit in golf. She was a longtime member of the Assiniboine Golf Club where she won many championships. When the snow came she shouldered her clubs, never anything but the best, and struck out for San Diego or Mesa. When her eyes began to fail and could no longer follow the ball in flight, she turned to writing poetry which, with a proper show of embarrassment, she delighted reading in public. Like most things she did, it came from the heart. If Estelle was anything, however, she was a companion and soul mate to George who passed away early July of this year. They might disagree occasionally on means, but never on principle. If the stories of former students are true, they were in their early marriage, to put it mildly, a hot item. She could, at her age, still turn an eye. As the end approached she grew ever more beautiful. Their wedding picture, cherished by our family, would serve as a standard for grace and elegance. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Mike) her son Wayne (Laurie) her granddaughter Katherine (John) grandson Ian (Sarah) and by her most recent acquisition, her great-granddaughter Aidan Kate. We love you, mom. Weve truly admired and respected you. You and dad will be so deeply missed. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Estelles memory to a charity of your choice. We wish to extend our deepest appreciation to the nursing staff of the Grace Hospital and to Dr. Pat Harris for her valiant effort on moms behalf. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
