Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKAMIL KUCERA At St. Josephs Residence, Kamil passed away in the peace and love of Christ on November 18, 2003 at the age of 80. Kamil was born on July 11, 1923 in Radosovce, Skalica district, in Slovakia. At the age of nine with his sister, Valeria and his mother, Maria, he left his country of birth to join his father, Andrej who had arrived years earlier in Winnipeg to begin a new life. Kamil attended Holy Ghost, King Edward and Immaculate Conception Schools. He owned Kamils Groceteria until 1968 and Selk-Ridge Gravel Ltd. from which he retired just a few years ago. Kamil was married to Mary Horvath for 46 years until she passed away in 1993. He was an active member of his church, St. John Cantius, the Knights of Columbus and the Canadian Slovak League serving as past president of the Winnipeg Branch. Two of Kamils passions were his collection of cars and travelling. Kamil had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, their families and the children of his extended family and friends in Canada and Slovakia. He will be remembered for his humour and fondness for playing jokes but most of all he will be remembered for always being there for his family and friends. Kamil was predeceased by his wife Mary; his parents, Andrej and Maria: brother Karol; sister Valeria; and brothers-in-law, Anthony and Steven. He leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law, Helen (Al) Martens, Irene Webster, Ann (Jim) White and Stella Horvath; brother-in-law Andrew (Sandy) Horvath; nieces, Mary Ann (Ed), Elaine (Ian), Debbie (Art), Sheryl (Jim), Kelly (Jeff), Andrea (Brad), Trena (Chris) and nephews, Anthony (Susan), Randy (Donna) and Robert (Sharon) many great-nieces and great-nephews and his cousins and their families in Slovakia. Prayers will be said on Sunday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Cantius Church, 846 Burrows Ave. on Monday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Henry Uczniak officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Messrs. Andrew Horvath, Al Martens, Jim White, Gerry Ostry, Jozef Liska, Blazej Chocholacek, Edward Bednar and Jerry Brasko. Active pallbearers will be Brian Hacko, Ed Doucette, Pierre Doucette, John Hreno, John Miklovic and Jozef Kiska. The family wishes to acknowledge sincere appreciation to Dr. B. Gorski, Terry Rolland, Gordon Self and the Unit 2 nurses and staff of St. Josephs Residence who helped Kamil with his safe passage home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 9Z9 and the Kanadsky Slovak, 259 Traders Blvd. E., Unit 6, Mississauga ON L4Z 2E5, would be appreciated.
