SALLY (SALOMEA) POBUTA Sally Pobuta passed away at the Misercordia Health Centre on Tuesday, November 18, 2003, five days short of her 96th birthday. She was born in Poland on November 23, 1907 and came to Canada to join some of her sisters and cousins in 1930. In 1932 she married Ludwik Pobuta and together they worked hard to establish themselves in several different areas of the city including at one time, ownership of the Chopin Apartments on Sherbrook. Sally was a sociable, likable and outgoing person who was active in sewing circles and in the preparation of food for Folklorama through the Polish Sokol Association for many years. She remained independent until April of this year, living for several years at Astra Housing on 64 Nassau St. N. Many will miss her. Sally was predeceased by her husband Ludwik (1998) son Richard (1968) and her closest sister Anne Wdoviak also in 1998. She leaves to mourn her passing her grandchildren Lori Pobuta, Matthew and Crosby Rampton; sister Aniela Strug; nieces, Addie Penner and Janina Skoczypiec; grandnieces, Kathy Penner and Krystyna Fehr and her daughter-in-law Mary Rampton. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
