Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ADOLF GOTTFRIED It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on November 21, 2003 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, Manitoba. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Irene; his children, Lynn (David) Ashton, Teri (Tom) Harrop, and Tim (Brenda) grandchildren, John-David and Jennifer Ashton, Dana and Tahnee Harrop, and Cameron and Robyn Gottfried; brothers, Willie, Frank (Ruby), and Leo (Joan) sisters, Ann Zebrinski, Mary (Charlie) Hurak, Rose (Joe) Malinowski, Agnes Cook, Florence (Bill) Van Oene, Teresa Finley, Elizabeth Bryce, and Katherine (Marvin) Rhodes; sisters-in-law, Caroline, Florence, Amelia (Eric) Petri; brother-in-law Borden (Mary) Landy; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by parents Leon and Katherine; brothers, Joseph (Rose), Walter, and Adam; sisters Victoria (Bill) Fedorchuk and Helen Walberg; brothers-in-law, Stanley Zebrinski, Joseph Cook, Russ Finley; and sister-in-law Victoria. John was born January 13, 1919 in Gimli, MB. After serving in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps during the Second World War, he returned to Gimli and worked as mate on the Goldfield. He married Irene on September 27, 1947. He worked for the RCAF and Canadian Forces for 33 years in Gimli and Prince George, BC returning to Gimli in 1983 to retire in 1983. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Gimli New Horizon 55 Plus Centre, North Colonization Road, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 26. Deacon Ray Sutton officiating. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Health Sciences and at Johnson Memorial Hospital for their special care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0 Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
