PEARL DUBOIS (nee SKAGFELD) Peacefully, on Friday, November 21, 2003 at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB, Pearl DuBois, aged 73 years of Lundar, MB passed away. Mom will always be remembered for her hearty laugh, her stalwart attitude in the face of adversity and her unwavering love for her family. Mom was predeceased by her husband Al; her parents, Steini and Kristrun and her brothers, Alex, Harold, Raymond and Clifford. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Marlene (John) Goodman, their children, Norman (Sharona), Jason, Eric and Clinton; her brother Arnold; a sister-in-law Jean Skagfeld and one great-grandson Jayden. Mom took great pride in her Icelandic heritage, belonging to the Icelandic Legion for many years. She spent many years looking after others until her own health prevented it. Moms life was plagued with numerous health problems, starting with severe spinal meningitis at the age of 18. She faced each challenge with courage and a smile. As per Moms wishes, a family memorial service will be held at the Arnason Funeral Home in Lundar, MB with Pastor Winston McGillan officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her great-grandson. Everyone is welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the Lundar Legion Hall at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28. We are so grateful for the dedicated service of her home care girls, Dr. Burnet, Dr. Johnson and the staff at the Eriksdale Hospital. She was blessed with very close friends. The family is also grateful for everyones compassion and help. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9 or to the Lennox Bell Lodge, 60 Pearl St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 1X2. We would like to share a special poem that Mom treasured, written for her by Jasons girlfriend Penny: PEARL I once knew a woman For I was her biggest fan. Life for her had looked so simple, As if it was all part of the plan. She always did whatever it took And if all else failed, shed take another look. She knew how to smile away the pain And youd never find her pointing fingers to blame. If I hadnt got the chance to know her, Life just wouldnt be fair I hope she always realizes how much I really do care. Love, Penny Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES, LTD.
