Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD SULYMKA Peacefully, with his family by his side, Lloyd passed away on November 22, 2003 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. He is survived by Irene, his beloved wife of 51 years; and their sons, Carl (Cece), Dale (Velvet), Doug (Bonnie), and Brian. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He leaves behind eight grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Anne Sulymka; and his brothers, Harry, Michael, John, Bill and Peter. He was born on June 13, 1925 in Basswood, MB and grew up in Newdale. Later moving to the city, he served as a high school mathematics teacher in Winnipeg School Division #1 for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. For 46 years, he led the Ukrainian choir at The Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church as cantor and choir director. Lloyd was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. A highlight for Lloyd was participating in the Millennium Choir which sang for The Pope at St. Peters Basilica in Rome. Always a hard worker, he split his time between his family, his home and cottage, and in his latter years, "The Westfork Ranch." One of Lloyds greatest enjoyments was witnessing the miracle of life in his garden every year. The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dr. R. Wong, Kathy Kyryluk R.N., and the supportive and caring staff at Cancercare Manitoba, 5-A Medicine and the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26 at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, also at the Church, officiated by Fr. Mark Gnutel and Very Rev. John Sianchuk C.Ss.R., followed by interment at the Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivary Blvd. If so desired, a donation in Lloyds name may be made to the Holy Family Church Icon Fund.
