NORMA (NAOMI) CHEATER (nee NEWMAN) Norma passed away November 24, 2003 at , after just having celebrated her 82 birthday on November 15. Norma was predeceased by her loving husband Mac and son Gary. Norma will be sadly missed by her daughter Leslie (Gerald) grandson Caley; and friend Jenn; brother Bill (Joni) sister-in-law Molly; and numerous nephews and nieces. Norma was born in Winnipeg then moved to Portage la Prairie where she completed high school. The highlight of her high school years was receiving the Governor Generals Medal for scholastic achievement and track and field. Norma married Mac Cheater in 1947 and moved to Prince Albert, SK. Mac and Norma returned to Winnipeg in 1967 after living in Saskatoon and Regina. Norma worked many years for the Bank of Commerce. Following Garys death she retired from the bank and spent time volunteering at Grace Hospital and working part time at Giftn Gourmet. Mom played bridge and bingo, swam with her dear friend Mary and spent many days with her devoted friend Ruth. Mom was a very private and independent person. She was vivacious, fun loving and had a great sense of humour. Her family and friends remained very important to her. Mom will always be remembered for her generous and kind spirit - especially on occasions such as birthdays and Christmas. She and Caley had a very special relationship that will provide him with many warm memories. We would like to thank Chris and her devoted staff on 3E at Deer Lodge Centre. Their warmth and kindness were a great source of comfort for both mom and her family. In accordance with Normas wishes, cremation has taken place at Chapel Lawn followed by a private family service. We would like Normas family and friends to join us in a celebration of Moms life on Saturday, November 29 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn West, 2520 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so wish a donation in Normas name may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
