KATARINA KOLLAR (nee VLCEK) October 17, 1917 - November 26, 2003 With the profound sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Katarina Kollar. She will be missed by her children, daughter Denisa (Ervin) and sons, Joseph and Paul; grandson Ervin; granddaughter Jana (Nash) and great-grandchildren, Ivette, Philip, Zena and Selena of Kelowna, BC. Mother was predeceased by her husband Joseph; her daughter Jana; granddaughter Iveta; brothers, Joseph and Michael of France; sisters, Apolonia and Maria of United States, Helen of Winnipeg and Elizabeth of Slovakia. She was born in Slovakia, and in 1936 she moved to France to be with her brothers Joseph and Michael. She met and married there, our dad Joseph. After the Second World War they moved to Czechoslovakia and later in 1969, once again, all family moved to Canada. Our mother was the sweet, gentle, determined and self-sacrificing woman who gave her all to make a warm and loving home for her children and grandchildren. Family came first in her heart and deeds. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a positive outlook on life. There will always be something bright and exciting just on the horizon even in most troubled times her sense of optimism was contagious. An enormous heart filled with love and understanding rested in that small, frail frame. She loved spending her time outdoors in her flower/vegetable garden, and she loved to read extensively. Our mom was a very independent person - she was the best "Mom" and "Friend" anyone could possibly have. We will treasure and are grateful for every moment she was with us. Mom, we miss you, we love you, you were our friend to lean and support, you will always be in our hearts, so this is not the end. Special thanks to John and Jana Zak for their visits and support. Our immeasurable thanks to all caregivers of Emergency, 7 West, 5B, Radiology and Cancer Care, all of Saint Boniface Hospital who provided excellent support to Katarina during her illness. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the "Childrens Wish Foundation of Manitoba." You can have only one Mother, loving, kind and true. No other friend in the entire world will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, she asked nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, to our Mother we could turn. For those of us who have a mother, treasure her with care, for you will never know her value till you see shes not there. To hear her voice, to see her smile, to sit and talk with her a while, to be together in the same old way, Would be our dearest wish today. We will miss you, Mama A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home on Monday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m., officiating Pastor Jim Poirier. Arrangements Entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
