HARRY SILVERBERG It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Silverberg on Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at the Grace Hospital. He was 89 years of age. Harry will be lovingly remembered but sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Laila; children, Jackie, Gary (Cathy), Karen (Dale) Bryant; grandchildren, Zoe, Evan, Stacey, Kelly; many nieces and nephews; brother and sister-in-law David and Peggy Silvers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Naomi and Reuben Hashman. Harry will also be missed by numerous friends and colleagues. Harry will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Harry will also be remembered for his generosity and kindness. He touched the hearts of everyone he knew. Harry was born in 1914 in Winnipeg, MB. He was manager of Athletes Wear Co. for 30 years. Harry enjoyed life to the fullest, being involved in his synagogue and other aspects of the Jewish Community. Harry and Laila travelled many times to Palm Springs, California and to Israel. After retirement Harry became a volunteer worker with Meals on Wheels and Jewish Child and Family Services. The family extends sincere thanks to family and friends who have been so kind and supportive during the past months. Also the family wishes to thank Dr. Macek and the nursing staff at the Grace Hospital; for their care and compassion. Services were held on November 21, at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue with Rabbi Alan Green officiating. Pallbearers were Ron Barsky, Sean Mogolove, Dale Bryant, James Veitch, Bob Dermer, and Ira Micay. Honorary pallbearers were Meyer Silver, Earl Parker and Jack Gutkin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
