MILDRED OLIVE STORSATER "TOOTSIE" Born: November 23, 1910 Died: November 27, 2003 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Olive Storsater (affectionately called Tootsie) at the age of 93, with her family by her side. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She will be especially missed by her "daughters", Elaine Armstrong (Ron), Susan (Alan) Algate and Debbie Sutton (Mike), the children she took under her wing when her sister, Gladys died at a young age. She was a loving grandmother to Angela (Shane) Werner, Holly (Curtis) Barron, Stacey (Wayne) Zazula, Alieta (Derek) Meikle and great-grandmother to their children. She will also be missed by Kelvin Francis. Tootsie was predeceased by her parents Ole and Johann, as well as her brothers, Ingwall and Oddy and sisters, Gladys and Evelyn. She is survived by her brother Ralph Storsater of Montreal and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Tootsie was born in Winnipeg and grew up on the family homestead near Steeprock, MB. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre and Business College, during the Depression and accepted a position with Heimskringla, which became Viking Printers. She worked there as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1976. Another career then began at Sparling Sales with her sister and brother-in-law, ending with her second retirement in 1989 at the age of 79. Tootsie volunteered many tireless hours serving as treasurer of the "Icelandic Canadian" magazine for over 60 years. A celebration of Tootsies life will be held on Tuesday, December 2 at Thomson Funeral Chapel at 669 Broadway at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Abraham officiating. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Variety Club of Manitoba, 611 Wellington Cres., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7. The family would like to thank the staff on the third floor and the ICU at the Grace Hospital, for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Pastor Dan Abraham for his kindness.
