FRANCES (NONA) MATHESON Frances passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2003 at Park Manor Nursing Home at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) in September 1996. Nona is survived by her children, Bruce (Dorothy) of Abbotsford, BC and Maureen Handley (Doug) of Winnipeg; her sister Eileen Dash. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and their families; along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Nona worked many years as a stenographer for various employers, most recently with St. James Civic Office as secretary to the Mayor and for the City Treasurer of St. James. She will be remembered as an accomplished artist and wood carver, winning several ribbons over the years. She was the designer of the city crest when St. James became a city in 1958. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Park Manor for the loving care they gave to Mom during her stay there. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nonas memory to the ALS Society of Manitoba, Room N108 - 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
