Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE ALEXINA GIESBRECHT (nee ROSS) After a long and courageous battle with her health, Rose Giesbrecht, resident of Gimli, and beloved wife of John, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2003 at the Riverview Health Center. She was only 71 years of age. Rose was born to the late Edward and Josephine Ross in Saskatchewan on April 4, 1932. She grew up in Hubbard, SK and moved to Winnipeg in 1950 to study nursing at the St. Boniface Hospital. She practiced nursing for several years until she met John. They married on June 4, 1954 and were blessed with six children, five boys and a girl. Rose was an active member of the community, volunteering her time to numerous organizations including the United Way and West Kildonan Community Centre /Arena. Rose moved to Gimli in 1976 when John purchased a GM Dealership. She was equally active in the community as well as a committed member of the CWL St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church. Besides her beloved husband, John, she leaves to cherish her memory, six children, Bryan, Joanne and Ronald of Winnipeg, Bruce (Paula) and Marshall (Janet) of Gimli and John (Kim) of Clandeboye; grandchildren, Lezlee, Sommer, Marnie, Nikki, Ryan, Jase, Jesse, Adam, Willie, Marsha and Megan; brothers, Harold, Edward, Reginald and William; sisters, Gladys Pollock, Charlotte Bjornson, Jean Reimer, Mary Dumont, Alma McKinnon and Eleanor Morris; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, Cremation will follow and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 5 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michaels with Father Art Seaman officiating. Interment will follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Childrens Museum, 45 Forks Market Road, Winnipeg R3C 4T6. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
