ELIZABETH H. SAMPSON (BETTY) Elizabeth H. Sampson (Betty) passed away peacefully, December 2, 2003. Beloved wife of the late James Alexander Sampson; dear mother of Lyn and husband Peter Monovan; dear mother of Glen and wife Louise Sampson; grandmother to Dean, Jim and wife Jennifer; great-grandmother to Tristan and Taryn. Betty was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and served as a police officer in the Second World War Homeland Security. Betty lost her first husband Mac in the Second World War. She met Jim, who became her friend and lifelong companion. He was shot down over North Africa and later escaped. Betty came to Canada to start a new life with Jim. She was an active partner in Sampsons Auto Roll, Sampsons Marina and Sampsons World of Sports. Betty was a founding member of Westworth United Church and was an active member of Shrine Temple, Daughters of the Nile and served as Queen. Betty loved her cottage at Brereton Lake. She lost her husband and companion in 1985 in a tragic auto accident. Betty finished their dream home on St. Marys Road and lived in it for a couple of years. She loved her family deeply and devoted all her energies to seeing that her family had every opportunity she could provide. The last few years she greatly enjoyed her great-grandchildren, Tristan and his new baby brother Taryn. Funeral service was held on Thursday, December 4 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
