GIULIA EMMA SCARPINO (nee MOTTOLA) July 26, 1920 - December 1, 2003 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister Emma on Monday, December 1, 2003 at the age of 83 years in the Health Science Centre. Emma leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Tony, Maria (Frank), Franca (Peter), Lena (Steve). Grandchildren, Pina (Pasquale), Julie (Alvaro), Gino (Lisa), Peter (Marla), Sam (Karen), Robert (Crystal), Tony (Jennifer), Cassandra, Jordan, and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Maria, Angela, and Filomena living in Milano, sisters-in-law, Caterina in Medicine Hat, AB and Maria in Amato, Italy. Emma was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Saverio. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 3 at 8:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. The active pallbearers will be Alvaro Cordova, Peter Giannuzzi, Gino Giannuzzi, Pasquale Aiello, Robert Scarpino, Tony Scarpino; and honorary pallbearer Mario Fiorentino. The family would like to extend their thanks to the emergency room staff at the Health Science Centre for their kindness and understanding during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Emma to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or to a charity of your choice.
