AGNETE FJELDSTED With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Agnete Fjeldsted (nee Gunnarson), a long-time resident of Arborg, MB, on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Tudor Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB. Agnete was born in Egense, Denmark, October 12, 1912 and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1923, living first in Riverton, then in Geysir, and finally in Arborg. Agnete married Andres Fjeldsted in 1934 and they made a home and farmed in the Framnes district for 39 years before retiring and moving their home to Arborg in 1973. Agnete is survived by three sons, Jon (wife Madge), Thor (wife Dixie) and Halldor (wife Cindy) eight grandchildren, (Jon) - Sean, Ian (Ellen), Shelley (Glen Shultz), (Thor) - David and Catherine, (Halldor) - Andrew (Krista), Christopher and Dana; and two great-grand-children, (Shelley) - Damon and Paige; sisters-in-law, Lovisa (Loa) Johnson (Winnipeg - formerly Gimli) and Mollie Gunnarson (Portage la Prairie) as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Agnete was predeceased by her parents, Jon and Maria Gunnarson; brothers, Axel and Gunnar; and her husband Andres, whom she missed very much. Agnete devoted much time to her community, and was active in the Framnes Ladies Aid, the Arborg Hospital Womens Auxiliary, the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church and her beloved Sunrise Lodge. Her warmth, love of people, sense of humour and sharp wit stayed with her to the end. Agnete moved to the Sunrise Lodge in Arborg in 1986 and spent all but the last few months of her life there amongst people who were more an extended family than simply neighbours and friends. The family wishes to thank the residents of Sunrise Lodge for the many kindnesses, good times and happy memories they gave to our mother, friend, grandmother and great-grandmother. We are grateful to the Arborg District Home Care personnel who allowed mother to lead an independent life for as long as possible. Their many kindnesses are not forgotten. We thank the doctors and staff at the Arborg Hospital and Tudor Personal Care Home for the professional and compassionate care and comfort they provided during our mothers final weeks. A celebration of Agnetes life will be held at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church in Arborg on Monday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may make donations to the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church Memorial Fund if they so wish. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
