Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELLIE MAY ANDERSON Nellie May Anderson, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Misericordia Health Centre, Winnipeg, MB. Nellie was born March 27, 1911 at Willow Lodge Farm north of Carnduff, SK to David and Emma Anderson. Nellie is survived by brothers, Barry Anderson of Langley, BC, Dale Anderson of Don Mills, ON.; sisters, Gladys Anderson and Bess Foster, both of Carnduff. She was predeceased by her parents; sister Pearl; brothers, Leonard and Garnet and infant sister Violet. Nellie grew up in Carnduff, SK where she attended Silverton and Carnduff High School. She moved to Winnipeg in 1930 to start her registered nurse training at the Winnipeg General Hospital where she graduated in 1933. There she worked at floor duty nursing. In 1949 she obtained her Public Health Diploma from the University of Manitoba. Her Public Health career included working for the VON, as a company nurse for Eatons department store and working in many schools within the inner city until her retirement in 1976. Nellie enjoyed travelling, writing, reading and clipping out articles from the Free Press. It was through those and beautiful letters, she kept her extended family informed of what was happening in and around Winnipeg. She had many friendships but one worthy of recognition is that of her 70 year friendship with classmate Mrs. Kay Park who always found time for a much appreciated visit. Nellie was a woman whose interest in the world, good humour and care for others has made the world a better place. She was one to always put others ahead of herself and was a fine example to all. Her gracious, thoughtful ways will be sadly missed by those who are left with her memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at Misericordia Cornish 2 for their care and thoughtfulness during the last year. At Nellies request, cremation has taken place and burial will follow a service in her hometown in the spring of 2004 by Redpath Funeral Home of Carnduff SK.
