Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL ST. HILL On Monday, December 1, 2003, Michael passed away peacefully in Morant Bay, Jamaica at the age of 66 years. Michael was born in Georgetown, Guyana on September 2, 1937 and left home at a young age to seek better opportunities in England. It was there that he learned his trade as a glazier and met his first wife Myra. Within 10 years, he again sought out a new adventure and moved his young family to Canada. He spent his working life in the glass industry, firstly in Winnipeg, then later in Regina before retiring early. Throughout his life, Michael loved to travel and enjoyed many family road trips exploring Canada and the United States, as well as returning to England and Guyana to visit family and friends. After retirement, he came to appreciate life in Jamaica. Michael had a lifelong love of fishing whether it was in Manitobas lakes or in the Caribbean. He was involved in various Caribbean community events while living in Winnipeg and Regina and valued his membership in the Independent Order of English Mechanics fraternal organization. He was always open to new people and experiences and lived everyday to the fullest. During visits to Winnipeg, he particularly enjoyed being challenged by his grandsons in chess and dominoes. Michael is survived by his wife of 15 years Annette, and her family in Toronto and Jamaica, his son Laurence, his brother Neville (Iscilla), eight nieces and nephews and many cousins in England, the United States and Guyana. In Winnipeg, he will be missed by his daughter Jacqueline (Charles) and grandsons, James and Alexander. Michael was also very fortunate to have many longtime friends who will remember his calm, easy-going nature and his readiness to lend a hand or share a laugh. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 6, at 2:30 p.m. at All Islands Hall in Morant Bay, Jamaica. Michaels illness was silent and swift. If friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
