Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN DECKA With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of John Decka, on Friday December 5, 2003. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anne Decka, daughter Chris (Al) Care, grandchildren, Allan Care, Jason (Larysa) Care; great-grandchildren, Tyanna and Alexa Care; and with our memories, son Brian (Paulette) Decka; sisters, Mary Phillips, Toni Cardinal; and sisters-in-law, Caroline Piragis and Anne Decka. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Tekla Decka; brother Bill Decka, sister Anne Putasnick, in-laws, Gaspar Piragis, Mike and Tillie Mages, Bill Cardinal, John Putasnick and Bill Phillips. Dad was born in Winnipeg on March 13, 1921. He served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He was a master carpenter and later worked for CNR as a Carman for approximately 25 years until his retirement. He was a long time member of RCL Branch 141. Dad was a peaceful man who was always there to lend his numerous skills to any task asked of him. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 9 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. with interment to follow. Pallbearers will be Brian Decka, Allan and Jason Care, Al Care, Tom and Gary Mages. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips, Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M3.
