LETHA HARRISON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom and grandma, Letha Harrison. Surrounded by her family, close friends and loving memories, Mom passed away peacefully in the Stonewall and District Health Centre on Friday, December 5, 2003. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1981. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Judy (Ian), Marion (Bob) and son Greg (Barb) her grandchildren, Carly, Erin (Darren), Dale, Darcy, Josh and Sara. She is survived by her sisters, Alice (Ernie), Eileen (Jake), Lois (Roy) and brother Howard (Frances). She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Myrtle Sturtevant; her brother Jess and her sisters, Lyla and Greta. Though she spent most of her years in the Stonewall area, Mom began her life in Purves, MB and was the second youngest of eight children. Times werent always easy for her growing up in a large family in rural Manitoba but she learned to count the small blessings as a result of her upbringing. She was a devoted wife and mother, who always put her family first. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy as witnessed by the many, many pictures she surrounded herself with in her home. Mom loved colour, from the clothes she wore to her beautiful garden she tended with such care. She loved music and had many creative talents, most of which she never acknowledged as being anything special. She believed in modesty and hard work - anything worth doing had to be carried out with total effort and care. She had a strong will and her strength carried through with her to the end. Prior to her deteriorating health, she loved golfing and curling, as well as the social network that developed through it. Mom loved to laugh, and her sense of humour carried through to the end. Through our tears we were also able to smile at many of her parting comments. Her passing words were that she did not want anyone to be sad and to never have any regrets. A special thanks to Dr. Simonson, Dr. Macek and all of the nurses and staff at the Stonewall and District Health Centre. In accordance with Moms wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of Moms life will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall on Tuesday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Manitoba Lung Association or the South West District Palliative Care Centre. "Those who live in our hearts will be with us always." MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
