MICHAEL DRONIUK It is with deep sadness that the family of Michael Droniuk announces his passing. Surrounded by the love of his family, Michael peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Riverview Health Centre on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at the age of 79. Michael leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Mary of 57 years; daughter Helen (Brian) his son Edward; grandchildren, Kyle (Kristen), Jaret and Leah Gilmour; great-grandsons, Ethan and Dylan Gilmour. He is also survived by one sister Donya and numerous nieces and nephews in the Western Ukraine. His parents, Magdelena and Yurko Droniuk and brothers, Nicola and Vasyl predeceased him. Michael was born in the Western Ukraine on September 23, 1924 and came to Canada in 1949, settling in Winnipeg in 1950. He worked as a Truck Driver for the City of Winnipeg for 36 years, retiring at the age of 63. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Church, Watt and Munroe, with Rev. Fr. Darren Kawiuk officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the Palliative Home Care Team for their compassionate care, with special thanks to Dr. Janice Mulder and nurse Jennifer Schoenberg, enabling him to stay in the comfort of his own home with loving family for as long as possible and also the Palliative Care Unit on 3 East at the Riverview Health Care Centre.
