His siblings were Harold, Irene, Sam and Billy. He was one of the first grain buyers in Northern Saskatchewan in the early 1930s, during the Depression, where he met and married Fern Mattson who passed away in 1997. Together they raised four children in the Killarney, Holmfield, Cartwright district. He was predeceased by his son Bill (Margaret) in 1974 and leaves to mourn his death his daughter Sonia of Parksville, BC, and sons, Bob (Lorraine) of Winnipeg and Don (Dorothy) of Denver, CO; as well as nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Hayden of Salmon Arm, BC, plus many nieces and nephews. He was a self-employed businessman for most of his working life and was active in the Elks Lodge as well as in community service. An avid storyteller, he enjoyed meeting and associating with people from all walks of life and certainly was more than willing to share his opinions. His sense of humour brightened the days of many a friend, customer and acquaintance. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren and took great pride and joy in their endeavours. He was fortunate to have been graced with the care extended him by everyone at Golden Links. Words cannot adequately describe your efforts and caring; expressions of gratitude will have to do. Thanks. The tide recedes but leaves behind Bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down but gentle warmth Still lingers oer the land. The music stops but seems to echo on in sweet refrain. For everything that passes, beautiful memories remain A memorial service will be held at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Rd., R2N 3Z6 on Wednesday, December 10 at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Golden Links would be preferred.
