Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJERRY GERRIT HIELKEMA April 20, 1946 - December 5, 2003 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the unexpected passing of our beloved husband and father Jerry Hielkema. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Anne; children, Alana, Gerrit, Aaron, Kristin and Tanys; sisters and husbands, Roelie and Adriaan Geerts, Detty and Johan Arends; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Pearl Maskell; Annes brother Bill and wife Carolyn; extended family and many friends. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Jan and Grietja Hielkema who lived their later years in Kelowna, BC. Jerry was born in Enschede, Netherlands and came to Canada with his family in July, 1953. He attended Tec Voc High School with his main interest in Graphic Arts, started the Company Triad Graphics and ended his business career with Mailboxes Etc in Tuxedo. Jerry enjoyed meeting people and truly cared about their needs and well being. He was a board member and elder at Kildonan Community Church and cared deeply for his church family. He had a close, personal relationship with God and daily referred to scripture for guidance, inspiration and understanding. Jerry loved the outdoors and we will remember many wonderful hours at the lake in the Whiteshell, boating, hiking and gardening. The family extends sincere appreciation to Rev. Brenda Fraser of Kildonan Community Church, to Dr. P.G. Mehta and St. Boniface Hospital staff for their support and care and to the many family members and friends who have helped us through this difficult time. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main St. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. Should family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Jerrys memory to the Endowment Fund, Kildonan Community Church.
