GEORGE CAVELL CHRISP On Sunday, December 7, 2003 George Chrisp passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre. George was born March 1, 1916, the youngest of seven children born to Alfred and Ellen Chrisp. He was predeceased by his mother January 1918 and his father September 21, 1940; his wife Vera, of 52 years, predeceased him January 1991. George attended Luxton and Machray Schools and a short term at Kelvin Tech. He joined the R.C.A.F. in June 1940 and was discharged July 1941, after being in the scarlet fever epidemic in St. Thomas, ON. George was employed by Winnipeg Hydro Steam Division, August 1941 as a skilled labourer. He retired in March 1981 as a Department Supervisor. George was a volunteer worker for the Fort Garry Historical Society. He became a member of the Masonic Order in 1951 and a member of Red River Seniors Group. He is survived by his estranged son Kenneth; granddaughters, Darrell and Michelle. A service of remembrance will take place on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Many thanks and much love to Gilberta Couture and her children and Nap and Doris Van Damme and family, nephew Jim and Elaine Lowther and family for their many kindnesses.
