KATHERINA CHUBATY Peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2003 with her family by her side, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 95, passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. She leaves to cherish her memory by her daughter Mary (Eugene) Kyrzyk; and daughter-in-law Anne Chubaty; her seven grandchildren, Linda (Donald), Cathy (Don), Lori (Don), Christine (Charles), Ronald (Sandy), Cathy, Randall (Starla). As well as her 10 great-grandchildren, Heather and Mark Budey, Trae, Brianna and Jaida McNeill, Christie and Caitlin Ring, Alex and Amanda Chubaty, and Alyssa Laszlo. She is also survived by two older sisters, Anne H.M. Podolsky, 97 years, Lena Bahrychuk, 99 years; and brother William Kohut, 88 years and wife Mary of Toronto. Katherina was predeceased by her husband Steve of 68 years in 1996; her parents, Joseph in 1971 and Maria Kohut in 1959; son Dmetro in 1999; brother John Kohut in 1991; son-in-law Mike Brodoway in 1964; brothers-in-law, Dmetro Bahrychuk in 1984 and Harry M. Podolsky in 1964. Katherina was born on August 14, 1908 in Stuartburn, MB. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church for 62 years, an avid church goer who enjoyed singing in the choir and taking part in church functions. In 1990 Steve and Katherina moved to live in Winnipeg, where they were members of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church. Katherina enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden and tending to her flowers which were her pride and joy. She loved to pick wild berries and mushrooms and just enjoy nature. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 12, at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Katherinas spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church building fund. At this time the family would like to express their thanks to all of the dedicated staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, 2nd floor for their kindness, compassion and loving care.
