JOHN (JAN) RYMARCZUK On Monday, December 8, 2003 at Grace Hospital, at the age of 82 years, we announce the peaceful passing of a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John. He will be lovingly missed and remembered by the love of his life, Stanislwa (Stella) of 55 years of marriage; son Henry (Danuta) grandchildren, Teresa (Mario), Barbara, Paul (Shalla) great-grandson Matteo; sister Marisia Brzuskiewicz (Leon) and family, many nieces and nephews from Winnipeg, Victoria, United States and Poland. John was born in Koldno Wielkie, Poland on June 15, 1921. After being deported to a prison camp in Siberia Russia, he joined the Polish 2nd Corps with the British Eight Army. After campaigns in the Middle East, he fought alongside Canadian, American and British troops at Monte Casino, Italy. He was awarded many medals for his heroism and bravery. After the Second World War, he immigrated to England where he met his wife. In 1954, they came to Canada "The Best Country in the World", as John used to say. John was an active member at the Holy Ghost Parish, as well as in the Royal Canadian Legion. A.Mynarski VC 34, Polish Combatants Association and the Canadian Polish Congress, where John held various positions and was active on numerous committees. John was employed for 25 years at St. Boniface Hospital where they were sad to see him retire. During his retirement years, John enjoyed blueberry picking, gardening and playing cards with his beloved wife. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Seven Oaks, Misericordia and Grace Hospitals, for the care and support they provided for John and the family.
