BARBARA (BETTY) A. OELKERS (nee KURZ) Peacefully on December 8, 2003, at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 103, Betty Oelkers of Selkirk and formerly of Winnipeg. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her sister Mia; daughter Betty (Fred) daughter-in-law Ilona; grandchildren, Fred (Marilyn), Richard (Diane), Lisa (Rod), Chris (Christine), Ingrid (George) and great-grandchildren, Richard, Jennifer, Stephen, Thomas, Robert, Ryan and Alexander. Betty was predeceased by her husband Gustav; son Ernest; and brothers, Henry, Frank, Oscar, Mack, Werner and Hans. The family would like to thank all the staff at Red River Place, Dr. Demsas and the staff of Selkirk General Hospital for their care and kindness. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements. You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back. Or you can open your eyes and see that she has left. Your heart can be empty because you cant see her. Or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday. Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that shes gone. Or you can cherish her memory and let it live one. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what shed want, smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
