Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED SIEDLER Peacefully on December 9, 2003 with the family at his side, Alfred Siedler entered into eternal sleep at the age of 70 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Alfred leaves to mourn his wife of 46 years Eva, five children, Mike, Debroah, Katharina (Wayne), Teresa and Franz; one sister Elfriede (Hans) ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was born in Berlin, Germany on October 5, 1933. In 1949, he started as a bakers apprentice at his fathers bakery in Berlin. In 1954 he immigrated to Canada and in 1955 sponsored his family for immigration to Canada. He later became a Canadian citizen. For five years he worked as a baker in Winnipeg and in 1959 went to work for his father at Leos Home Bakery until 1966. He then went to work for Dominion Food Stores for 18 years and then for Safeway for 13 years until his retirement in 1999. Alfred enjoyed doing carpentry work as a hobby. He also liked camping weekends and summers with his family at the cabin he built at Lee River Falls. He enjoyed being a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he served as worthy president of Elmwood Aerie 3360 and Manitoba Provincial Aerie president. Cremation has already taken place and at Alfreds request, there will be no service. There will be a reception at St. Josephs Catholic Club, 1476 Main St. between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on December 12 to celebrate Alfreds life. The family would like to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface Hospital with special thanks to Tracy and Patty. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to any charity of your choice.
