FLORENCE ORVIS Peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB, Florence Orvis passed away at the age of 87 years. Florence was born at Bloodvein on May 2, 1916, spending most of her life in Bloodvein and since 1997 she was a resident of the Fisher River Personal Care Home. Florence enjoyed knitting and bead work, and her favourite was carrying firewood from the bush on her back. She was a hard working person, who loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed doing things the old fashioned way for her family, like washing clothes in the tub with a scrub board. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory; her daughter Illa Hamilton; sons, Leslie Orvis Sr. (Doris) and Edwin Orvis (Jean). She raised Edwins children as her own family, Christine McKay (Russell), Robert Orvis, Illa Young (Billy Joe), Elaine Duck (Charlie) and Rachel Turtle (Harley). There are 16 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; also by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Peter Orvis; brother Robert Benson; parents, Christine and Henry Benson; grandson Henry Orvis; son-in-law Harold Hamilton. The family would like to thank the staff at the Fisher River Personal Care Home and the doctors and nursing staff at the Percy E. Moore Hospital at Hodgson for the excellent care and kindness given to Florence. Wake services will be held in Bloodvein, MB on Tuesday, December 9, Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11 at the Bloodvein School Gymnasium. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bloodvein School Gymnasium with Rev. David Russell officiating. Interment to follow at the Bloodvein Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Benson, Ryan McKay, Robert Orvis, Charlie Duck Jr., Tony Green and Billy Joe Young ABORIGINAL FUNERAL CHAPEL 724 SELKIRK AVE. - 586-7700
