JOYCE KATHRYN MAHER 1927 - 2003 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, Joyce Kathryn Maher. Mom passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 10, 2003 at the Grace General Hospital, with her family by her side. Mom was born on December 20, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT. When Mom was 19, her family moved to Canada and settled in Saskatoon where she met and married our father David Phillip Maher. Mom and Dad lived in Saskatoon for many years, during which time all six of their children were born. In 1968, the family moved to Winnipeg where Mom stayed home with her children until she started working at Sears in 1973. The family moved to Calgary for two years, then returned to Winnipeg where Mom saw her children grow up and start families of their own. Mom loved her children and grandchildren passionately with the unconditional love for which she will always be remembered. Mom was predeceased by her eldest son Kevin and her husband David. She will be forever missed by her children, sons, Tim of Langley, BC, Jeff and France (Nicole, Nadean) of Alberta; daughters, Kathy and Steve (Lindsay, Natalie) of Wedowee, AL, Leslie and Harry (Kelly, Alex, Harrison) of Winnipeg, Janet and Mike (Jack, Will) of Winnipeg. Mom will also be missed by her two brothers, Jack and Jerry Knight of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Grace General Hospital for their compassionate care and understanding, particularly Dr. Borrett and nurses, Joyce and Anne on the fifth floor north. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. James Assiniboia Senior Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
