JAKE H. JANZEN February 2, 1932 - December 9, 2003 Jake Janzen of Dominion City passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre surrounded by the love of his wife and family, God called Jake home after a brief two month illness. He will be sorely missed, but lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Margret; his children, Lorna (Clarence) Buhler of Winnipegosis, Rick (Colleen) Braun-Janzen, Winnipeg, Sandi (Carmine) Gelardi in Winnipeg and Ted (Laela) Janzen, Winnipeg. Grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Danielle and Brendon Buhler, Erin and Justin Braun-Janzen and Brody Gelardi. Brothers, George (Kathy) brother-in-law Jake Braun, Meadows; brother John (Marge) Dominion City and many nieces and nephews and friends. Jake was born on February 2, 1932 in Dominion City. He married Margret (Penner) July 20, 1957 - they lived and farmed near Dominion City for 41 years. Here they also raised their four children. Life was not always easy when there were crop failures, but they always managed some how. Once the children had all grown and left home Jake semi-retired. Then in 1997 after the big flood, he and his wife bought a house in Dominion City where they enjoyed "town" life till Jake became ill in October. He spent some weeks in St. Pierre Hospital under the wonderful care of the nurses and doctors to whom we extend a big thank-you. Jake was taken to the Health Sciences Centre for some final tests but due to the progression of his cancer the test was cancelled. He passed away later that evening. A visitation will be held Friday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Charleswood Mennonite Church, 699 Haney St. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arnaud Mennonite Church with Pastor Lynne Martin officiating. Interment is also at Arnaud Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or a charity of your choice.
