LUDVIC (EDWARD) GEORGE BARTMANOVICH April 16 1913 - December 10 2003 After a full, rich and rewarding life, Ludvic has gone to join his dear wife, Rose. On Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the wonderful age of 90, he passed away peacefully. In 1927 when he was 14 years old he began to build his vision of a farm and home in Glenlea. From this pioneering start and later, with the warmth and wisdom of Rose, his wife of 54 years, his dream has grown into a flourishing enterprise for his family. His love of the land, his family and his community dominated his life and he instilled these values in his children. His family will honour Ludvics memory. Michael, Ronald (Susan), Verna (Kenneth Karpetz), and Joyce Johnson will lovingly remember their father. "Gigi" cherished his grandchildren, Douglas (Jane), Ryan (Mona), Kristine (Rob MacDonald), Michelle (Rick Wood) and Christina Johnson. He enjoyed watching his two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Thomas Bartmanovich. His memory will live on with his youngest brother Peter Bartmanovich (Rita) and his sisters-in-law, Minnie Machonka, Anne Woytowich, Anne McGuire and their families. Many nieces and nephews fondly recall Uncle Eds influence on their lives. Ludvic was predeceased by his wife Rose (1995) his daughter-in-law Claire; his parents, Michael and Maria; his sisters, Caroline, Francis and Anne; his brothers, Joseph and Stanley. Ludvic was born on April 16, 1913 in St. Norbert. He lived a life of work and service for his community. He worked to build and strengthen the St. Joseph Church and the Howden Community Centre (formerly St. Josephs Hall) by serving on the Church Council and St. Josephs Hall Committee. He was a firm advocate for the well being of his neighbours. In his generous way he sponsored many immigrant families who wanted a start in Canada and when he saw someone in need he did everything he could to help. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. Above all else he treasured his family. Love of travel and his spirit of adventure took Ludvic to many places such as Florida with Rose and a car full of children. Later in his life he enjoyed planting fruit trees and walking the beaches of the Bahamas. Even after suffering the effects of a stroke he was able to smile and bring a kind word to both residents and staff, whom he appreciated, during his last seven years in the St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Prayers will be held at Monday, December 15 at 8:00 p.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Dr. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Rev. Fr. Carl Tarnopolski, V.G. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery on Red River Drive. Should friends wish, donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
