DOREEN HOLIFER (nee ZELLIS) 1925 - 2003 Passed away peacefully on December 11, 2003, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, her daughter by her side as she was for the past six months, at Fischer Place, 100 Mile House, BC. Born in Essex, England, she served in the front lines in the Second World War as one of the Intrepid Ones. She then, with her family, moved to Winnipeg where she raised her children Brenda and Brian and her stepchildren Ron, Doreen and Shirley. She worked as a manager with Eatons, loved her job, then retired to 100 Mile House, BC, where her Mom and siblings lived. She married Mel Holifer and took on a 15 year journey as a snowbird. She participated in many local charities and was a Lioness. Her commitment to the community, family and friends, along with her witty, feisty personality which we all loved, will be missed. In compliance with Doreens wishes no formal funeral will be held. As an expression of sympathy donations to Doreens memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
