Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN (nee HELENA KUZMAK) SICZ December 4, 1922- December 9, 2003 It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother and grand-mother. Helen was born in Turka, Western Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1949 and settled and raised her small family in Winnipeg, MB. In the year 2000, she made a very brave decision to move to Calgary to live near her daughter Anna. Although she missed Winnipeg, she was happy to be near her beloved daughters family. Helen was a very kind, generous and caring lady. Her gentle nature, quick wit and wonderful sense of humour endeared her to many people, both young and old. She was a friend to all and loved by all. From Helen: "God Bless You All! Live and be happy and love one another." Her interests were varied and many. Being able to read, write and speak fluently in three languages, Helen was an avid reader. Having a natural beautiful singing voice, she loved music, especially her beloved Ukrainian folk songs. She enjoyed cooking and her Ukrainian cuisine was delectable. Helen tended her flowers and looked after the wild birds with care and patience. Her hands were always busy: sewing, embroidering, crocheting, knitting. Often she could be seen going for a walk with her "boyfriend" (her cane) and her beloved little dog "Penny" by her side. Helen was a deeply religious and spiritual woman. She loved her Ukrainian Catholic Church and took great comfort and solace through her prayers. Although Helen loved her children Anna, George and her son-in-law Steve, her grandchildren Andrew and Yara were always dearest to her heart. During her too brief time in Calgary, she cherished the time spent with her family and her loving nature was an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed. Our family, would like to give special thanks to our Parish Priest, Fr. Serhij Harahuc, SSMI - Sister Laura and Yvonne, our family doctor, Joan Huang, all our friends in Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto and the wonderful Staff and Volunteers of Rosedale Hospice. Your prayers, kindness, care and compassion made a difficult time easier to bear. Helen was predeceased by her husband Nick. She leaves to mourn and lovingly cherish her memory, her daughter Anna and son-in-law Steve Jakymiw; her son George and wife Marsha; and her most beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Yara Jakymiw. Prayers will be sung 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 16 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 17 Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., with Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made in Helens name directly to the Children of Chernobyl Canadian Fund, 2118 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON M6S 1M8. "Mamo/Babo - we love you so much!" God Grant Her Eternal Rest! VICHNAYA PAMYAT! KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193

Dear Anna, I have been trying to locate you for years and unfortunately it is only through obituaries of our loved ones that we learn how to make contact. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother...I remember her well and you have been on my mind so much especially during these catastrophic times in Ukraine. My love to you and I hope to hear back from you so we can reconnect after so so many years. Blessings on you and your family, Janice Lloyd - Posted by: Janice M Lloyd (Friend) on: Apr 18, 2022

Dear Anna and George, it has been many years but I still have fond memories of you and your parents. My husband Gregory passed in 2003. My boys are still here in Minneapolis with me. We were listening to your record "Karlicki" just today! You and Lesia Kycia were together in the camp in Austria. God Bless you and your Family.
