JACQUES VAISEY On Sunday, November 2, 2003, Jacques died abruptly on the soccer field at the age of 45. Friends, colleagues and family joined in a time of remembrance on November 8 in the Community Hall in Belcarra, B.C. where he made his home with his loving wife, Tasha Nathanson and their three young daughters, Saskia, Ariana and Bronwyn. Jacques was born in Corvallis, OR, but grew up in Winnipeg where he enjoyed golf and curling. He completed his undergraduate studies here followed by graduate work at Queens and the University of California at Santa Barbara. He was a professor of Engineering at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver for the past 13 years, popular with his students for his sense of humour and fairness. In addition to his immediate family, Jacques is survived by his mother, Marion Vaisey-Genser, his sister, Jill Vaisey, her husband, Peter Dickof and their children, Carla and Raymond. He was predeceased by his father, Edgar Vaisey in 1961 in Ottawa and his step-father, Lawrence Genser in 1997 in Winnipeg. The family thanks the many friends who have extended their kind words and sympathy for our deep sorrow.
