EDMUND PORTAGE COLLETT After valiant efforts to recover from recent strokes Ed (in his 92nd year) passed on December 12, 2003 while a resident at Oakview Extendicare. Born in Portage la Prairie, MB he was the last surviving of four siblings. He leaves a loving family who are deeply saddened by his passing but celebrate his life: Hilda loving wife of 62 years and a tower of strength; daughter Barbara (Avi) Shumeley; son Ron Collett, Blaire Swanson-Collett; grandchildren, Christie (George) Darville and John Collett; sister-in-law Elva Brooks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends young and old. Joann MacMorran and Jerry Bilodeau (son-in-law) visited Ed regularly and are major supports to the family. Eds working career included the Hudsons Bay Company and the Government of Manitoba. He was an enthusiastic curler and golfer and enjoyed many special friendships. Eds humour was a well-known trait which we all came to know and which he shared till his final days. Ed also expressed his daily appreciation to his Oakview Care Team, and the family also offer their sincere thanks to all who spoke with and cared for Ed with dignity and respect. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
