JOHN LEONARD HIRST Peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Selkirk General Hospital, John Leonard Hirst at the age of 83 years. He is survived by five children, Lea Workman, Jo-Ann Jensen (Tom), Kerry Voogt (Harry), Jimmy and Brent (Karen) eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Edith and Pat. Dad was one of ten children, he was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1992; brothers, Harold, Jim, Bill, Chick, and Alan; sisters, Dolly and Ena. Dad was born January 13, 1920 in Stonewall, MB where he also attended school. In 1940 he joined the RCAF and served his country with the Royal Air Force Bomber command completing 32 missions out of England. Upon his return Dad started with the Federal Corrections at Stony Mountain where he worked for 33 years retiring in 1983. Dad will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his special dog Montanna. At this time the family would like to thank the staff at Stonewall and Selkirk Hospitals for their compassion and special care given to our father. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. In keeping with Dads wishes, a private service and interment is being held.
