MARY METROW (nee KORENICKI) April 1, 1904 - December 12, 2003 We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of Mary Metrow, aged 99 years, on Friday, December 12, 2003 at East Gate Lodge, Beausejour. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1975 and daughter Stella in 1933. She is survived by her daughter Mary (Earnest) Crumb; and sons, Micheal, Steven (Marney) and Joseph (Christina) Metrow, along with eight grandchildren, Gary (Patricia) Crumb, Norman (Debra) Crumb, Wayne (Wendy) Metrow, Cheryl Colgrave, Ann (Gordon) Gallant, Jim (Melanie) Metrow, Katherine (Rolf) Borowski, and Melanie (Rick) Pipala. She will also be missed by her 11 great-grandchildren, Sean, Barbie, and Darryl Crumb, Michelle Metrow, Ryan and Diane Colgrave, Claire and Ethan Gallant, Curtis, Colin and Jordon Metrow. Mary arrived in Canada from Poland at the age of 17 years. She met and married her husband Peter at the age of 21. They started their life together in Vivian, where they lived for 30 years. She then moved with her family to Toronto, where she lived for 30 years. When she was no longer able to live alone, she returned to Manitoba in 1981 to live with her daughter Mary. She stayed with her for 19 years until 1999, at which time, she moved into East Gate Lodge in Beausejour until her passing. The family wishes to thank all the staff at East Gate Lodge for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the the Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Marys Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2 or to a charity of ones choice. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Anola, MB with a reception to follow.
