VERNA MARY REBECCA HARRIS Peacefully, with her family by her side, Verna passed away December 13, 2003. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon in 1971; her parents, Austin and Laura Barnes and her son-in-law Frederick. Mom is survived by her son and daughters, Judith, James (Emily), Marilyn (Errol) and Catherine (Matthew) grandchildren, Kristen, Neal, Karen, Lyndon, Leigh, Susannah and Patrick; sister Irene; and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Florence, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Winnipeg on October 13, 1915, and except for a few years spent in Toronto and Regina, she lived in Winnipeg all her life. She attended Laura Secord P.S., Gordon Bell H.S., and Angus Business College. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Colgate Palmolive and Security Storage. During her married life she was active in Westminster United Church, Eastern Star and Shrine Ladies. She particularly enjoyed Shrine Ladies Bowling. Our thanks to the wonderful staff at West Park Manor and Grace General Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. We love you and will miss you Mom and Grandma. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pastoral Associate Rose Ferries will officiate. Interment and reception to follow.
