Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ANN (NAN) MERKELEY (nee HARRISON) 1920 - 2003 Margaret Ann Merkeley of Cranbrook, BC, passed away suddenly November 26, 2003 at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital, at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Norman Merkeley, of Winnipeg; three children, Paul (Lynne) of Cranbrook, Susan (Brian) of Vancouver, and Peter (Bonita) of Winnipeg; ten grandchildren, Hayley, Carley, Kelsey Merkeley, Christine, Sammy, Natalie Sammartino, and Tanner, Quinn, Teal, Fia Merkeley and one great-grandchild Declan and brother Glen Harrison of Vancouver. The funeral service was held at Christ Church Anglican, Cranbrook with Rev. Katherine Hough officiating. Her ashes will be interred at the Cranbrook Cemetery, as well as scattered at the Harrison family sites in Fort QuAppelle, SK. Nan was born in Fort Qu Appelle, May 9, 1920 and moved to Winnipeg at a young age. She graduated from Nurses Training at the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1943. After her marriage, April 9, 1943, Nan and Norman resided in Winnipeg and raised their family. In 1968, they moved to Salt Spring Island where they were active in island life. Later, they bought an orchard in Wyndell, BC. Nan enjoyed travelling, swimming, walking, senior activities, her many friends, and most of all her grandchildren; she had the gift of making each one feel special. She will be sadly missed.
