Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMITCHELL NEIMAN Mitch Neiman passed away on November 25, 2003, after a long and arduous battle with PPS, a debilitating brain disorder. Mitch is survived by Ruth, his wife of 27 years and his family from a previous marriage. His son Dr. Allen Neiman, his daughter-in-law Dr. Carmen Stanko, and his grandson David, reside in Honolulu, HI. Mitch was born in 1923 in Minneapolis, MN, the first-born son of Arthur and Jessie Neiman. He was predeceased by his brother Sheldon, and his parents. Prior to moving to Winnipeg, Mitch completed his education at the University of Minnesota where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree followed by a Masters in Social Work. Mitch was respected by clients and colleagues for his work in each of the three major paths in his career. He began as a marriage counsellor in private practice, and later accepted the position as the Executive Director of the Jewish Child and Family Agency Inc. The final phase of his career was spent working for the United Way Agency of Winnipeg. Mitch was a sought-after speaker in Winnipeg and offered a broach range of topics that were valued and appreciated. He was known for his wry sense of humour and his storytelling. He was also a member of the National Film Board Screen Committee which as responsible for determining which movies were appropriate for young audiences. He was enamoured with flying and bought his first plane before he had acquired his licence. He eventually learned to fly and enjoyed many carefree hours in the sky. Subsequently, he abandoned flying for his rod and reel and was an enthusiastic fisherman. Mitch enjoyed travelling and before his illness, he and Ruth travelled extensively. If they wish, friends and family can make a contribution in his honour to the charity of their choice.
