Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE (SCHNAPPS) WEVURSKY It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our beloved Steve at the age of 73 years, on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. His passing is deeply mourned by his loving wife, Lilly, of 47 years; his three daughters, Juanita, Laurie and Tracy; two sons, Gordie and Ron; three grandchildren, Beth, John Chyzy and Owen; his Mom, Annie; two sisters, Nancy and Lovey and many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his Dad, John in 1967. Steve was born in the General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He grew up in Fisher Branch, MB. After school he worked on threshing gangs in the area then began working in Fisher Branch at the Federal Grain Elevator. He was transferred to Bankend, SK, where he met his future wife, Lilly. They were married in Fisher Branch, then returned to Bankend for another year. After the birth of their first child, they moved back to Fisher Branch temporarily until Steve took a job with the CNR in Winnipeg. After being transferred to many different locations in Manitoba and Ontario, they decided to settle in Fisher Branch and moved to the family farm where they still reside today. Steve began a much needed ambulance service which ran for 11 years. He also saw the need for a funeral home in the area and on June 1, 1967 began Fisher Funeral Home. Soon after, Steve and Lilly opened Fisher Flowers and operated for nearly 30 years. After his stroke in 1999, Steve retired. Steve was well known for his love of nature. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish with his son Gordie or many of his friends. He loved baseball, curling and playing cards. Steve had a gift for music. He loved playing the guitar and singing and enjoyed listening to Zbava and Polka Party up to the time of his passing. After a lengthy illness, Steve passed away with his devoted wife, Lilly, his daughter Juanita and his son Gordie, at his side. His family is grateful for the gift of being all together one last time when daughter, Laurie visited for three weeks prior to his passing. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital for their care and kindness. Thank you also to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre and the Rehab Centre in Winnipeg. Thank you to Archbishop Michael Bzdel; Fr. Peter Chorney, Fr. Dave Kowalski and Fr. Taras Kach for their visits, prayers and words of comfort at this time. A very special thank you to Steves faithful and lifelong friend, Walter Kutz. Steve greatly appreciated your friendship and visits. Special thanks also to Steves Mom and sisters for all their kindness and support during Steves struggle with his health. It will not be forgotten. Prayers will be held on Sunday, December 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church in Fisher Branch.
