Date of Passing: Dec 14, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE LOUISE YOUNGER Its with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Younger on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the age of 71. She will be sadly missed by her sister Shirley (Don) Ross of Burlington, ON; brother-in-law Murray (Marilyn) Younger of Calgary, AB; son Jeff; daughter Shirley (Allan) Proskin; and grandchildren, Abby and Wyatt. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1998. Mom was a very active person for most of her life. She spent her winters downhill skiing well into her early 60s. In the summer she enjoyed cycling and golfing. She managed to continue golfing until 2000, even though her Alzheimers was already a big part of her life by then. It was her feisty spirit that carried her through her struggle with Alzheimers and her other recent health issues. Above all, Mom was a very kind and caring person. She very much liked to help others and was always available to fix someones bike or drive them to an appointment. Were really going to miss you Mom. Our family would like to thank the staff of both the Grace Hospital and the Charleswood Care Centre for their wonderful care and compassion. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Should friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
