MARIA BLOCK On December 15, 2003 at Donwood Personal Care Home, Maria Block entered into the arms of her Lord. Marias gentle, gracious spirit was evident to all those whose lives she touched. Maria was born on November 17, 1922 in the village of Pastwa, Ukraine. After immigrating to Canada in 1948 she fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher and taught for 27 years. The majority of these years were at Regent Park School in Transcona and were "the best years of my life." Her love for the Lord and caring nature led her to encourage others through countless visits, cards and phone calls. Maria was predeceased by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters. She will be greatly missed by her sister Agatha (Jacob) Janzen of Winnipeg; and brother Hans (Ljuda) Block of Germany; and her family of many nieces and nephews. As a family we would like to thank the staff at Donwood for their excellent care. A special thank you to Ida whose compassion touched our lives as well as Marias. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 am. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, MB with viewing one half hour prior to the service. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to M.B. Communications (Russian Dept.).
