DOROTHY LOUISE HOOPER Peacefully, on Monday, December 15, 2003, Dorothy Louise Hooper passed away in her 90th year, at Concordia Hospital, with her son by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard; her siblings, Art and Bea. She leaves to mourn her sons, David (Joyce) and George (Janet) and her grandchildren, Jon, Kevin and Jillian; as well as her brother Stan (Delores) sister-in-law Irene; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was born October 22, 1913, in Winnipeg, where she spent most of her life until she married Len. They moved to several small towns until finally settling again in Winnipeg. They built a home together in 1959 in East Kildonan in 1956 where she resided until her passing. Dorothy had a love of music and spent many years teaching piano to students. Immanuel United Church and choir benefited from her beautiful playing for 34 years. Dorothy was the matriarch of the family and cared for her husband at home for as long as she could. Her family was her first priority to whom she was generous to a fault. Dorothy and Len had the opportunity to travel the world in their retirement years. Cruising proved to be a favourite with them as they enjoyed the variety of foods available to them. Reconnecting with friends in England was something they reflected on for years. The family would like to thank the staff of N3W and oncology for their care and kindness. Thanks to Vince and Dora for your support of Dorothy in her home and to all her friends. Special thanks to Olga who gave Dorothy the freedom to shop and visit some new sites. Your dedication to her will not be forgotten. A celebration of her life will be held at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St., on Saturday, December 20 at 3:30 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or a charity of your choice. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949.
