JOSE da SILVA February 22, 1935 - December 16, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, Jose da Silva on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at St. Boniface Hospital. After a short, but brave battle with cancer he went peacefully, with his family by his side. Jose was predeceased by his parents, Filomena and Manuel da Silva. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 40 years, Senhorinha; his daughters, Ana (David) Gomes, grandchildren Danny, Nicole and Kyle; Lina (Pedro) Arruda, grandchildren Jade and Justin; brothers, Manual (Balbina), Joao (Geraldina) sisters, Terezinha (Antonio), Natalia (Urbano), Manuela (the late Manuel) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and godsons. Jose was born in Faial, Acores, in 1935 and moved to Winnipeg in 1960. He was employed with CN for 33 years and retired at the age of 58 years. Jose enjoyed his retirement years vacationing in Faial with his best friend, his wife. Jose was a caring and generous man. He spent a lot of his time caring for his grandchildren. The love of his family was the joy of his life. No words can express the love that he filled our hearts with, and the emptiness that now resides. The family is very grateful for all the support and assistance that was so generously given by relatives and friends and the care and compassion provided by the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. A very special thank you to Joao and Geraldina da Silva and Manuela Terra for all your emotional and spiritual support; and to neighbours Bob and Betty Bell for being such loyal and dedicated friends. Goodbye Husband, Dad, Grandfather and Friend. Some day well meet again. Go to sleep and be with God. No more suffering. Just peace. We love and miss you. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St., with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
