Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJONATHON WILLIAM ZIRK October 24, 1978 - December 16, 2003 It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that the family of Jon Zirk announces at the young age of twenty-five, the sudden passing of their beloved son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, grandson and great friend in his sleep, at his home, Tuesday, morning, December 16, 2003. Assuredly he will be missed, but lovingly remembered by many. Jon was born on October 24, 1978 at St. Boniface Hospital, he was a big and healthy baby boy. Jon grew up in East St. Paul and attended elementary school at Dr. Hamilton, Jr. High at Robert Andrews and High School at River East Collegiate where he made many great and lasting friendships. He worked at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club as a cook for many of his early years and later at McPhillips Street Station. When Jon was younger he was a talented and avid skier. He also enjoyed canoeing, dirt biking and skate boarding as a teenager. When Jon was eleven years old he was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, and as of late has been suffering from an undiagnosed neurological condition. Jon was a happy go lucky young guy with a great sense of humour. We will truly miss him. Left to cherish Jons memory are his parents, Lawrence and Jeannette Zirk; his sister Jennifer Zirk; his brother Chris Zirk; sister-in-law Julia Zirk; nieces, Ashlea and Breanne Zirk; grandmother Adela Zirk; many aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. Jon will be dearly missed by his friends, Paul Hamilton, Doug Pateman; Greg Sachvie; Clint Bucholz; Lance Brown; Blair Romas; Jay Zaroda; Dylan Rutherford; Aaron Kapilik; Riley Okapiec, Nathan Terrin, Cory Cockriel, Erin Sacco; Jarett Hamm; and D.J. Lozinski. Jon joins his uncle Peter; Grandma Ray; Grandpa Zirk, Aunty nuns and many others in heaven who have joined Jesus there. Jon, this message is for you from your sister Jen: I love you dearly and I will miss you always. Greg, Doug, Blair and I will play a game of Jeopardy for you down here, and maybe we will even let you win. On this earth your body was sick and you never complained once, but you are in heaven now and your body is healthy, whole and vibrant. I know you are up there skiing with Jesus. Little brother, take a big jump off that mountain for me. A Celebration of Jons life will be held on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay at DeFehr with interment in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Viewing at the church prior to the service. If friends wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, in Jons memory. 102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg R3C 0S6.
