ANNE SWARTZ 1908 - 2003 Our family sadly announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on December 17, 2003, at the age of 95. Born in London, England in 1908, Anne immigrated to Canada with her family in 1912 and settled in Winnipeg. She married Morris in 1931 and lived a full and active life caring for her family while still finding time to care for others, excelling in all she undertook, from baking to sports to community work for the YMHA and Hadassah. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Solomon and Fannie Aberbom; siblings, Tillie Abrams, Mary Berkowitz, Al Avery and Bernice Friedman; and son-in-law Harvey Schwartz. Left to mourn her passing are Morris, her devoted husband of 72 years; her loving children, Toby, Sidney, Harold and Paul; and daughter-in-law Rashi; her grandchildren, Gary, Jeffrey and Steven; Jennifer, Anthony and Allison; Bradley, Randall and Ainsley; and Madison; and her great-grandchildren, Beth; Emma; Ryan and Courtney; Ellie, Madeline and Abigail; Aaron; Kyra and Noa; and Jeremy and Nicole. Her rosy-cheeked smile typified her positive outlook on life. She took great pleasure in having her family over for dinner on religious and festive occasions and she especially enjoyed having her family, extended family and friends with her at her cottage in Gimli. Warm memories of her will be cherished and passed down our familys generations with her recipes. She was a devoted wife and caring mother, a doting grandmother and proud great-grandmother, and a friend who will be greatly missed by all. The funeral service was officiated by Rabbi Alan Green and Rabbi Louis Berkal at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Friday, December 19. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Gary, Jeffrey and Steven, Jennifer and Anthony, Bradley, Randall and Ainsley; and nephew Jerome Avery. Our sincere thanks to the Sharon Home, especially the staff on the 5th Floor, for their care and compassion during her lengthy illness. Special thanks to companions Gloria Tan, Josie Trinidad and Aida Ballesteros and thanks to Prennie and all others who extended our mother a caring hand. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sharon Home or Alzheimers Society would be greatly appreciated. Gramma Anne, rest peacefully knowing that you will you be in our hearts forever.
