LINDA CAROL PETERS (nee BENNETT) November 3, 1944 - December 19, 2003 Peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, Linda passed away Friday morning at the age of 59. Linda is survived by her loving husband Frank; daughters, Pat (Wally), Tracy (Lee) and son Brad (Lindsay) aunt Rena and uncle Reg; cousins, Joanne (Tony), Bruce (Lorraine), Grant, Pat, Jack (Stef) and relatives, Stan and Hilda in England along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Linda was predeceased by her loving parents Bill and Edna Bennett and cousin Art Hughes. Born in Winnipeg, Linda grew up in Riverview before settling down in St. Vital with husband Frank. In 1973 she resigned from her longtime job at Reed Stenhouse to raise her family. She was a loving wife and mother, and always put others ahead of herself. After the kids were settled in school, Linda took a job as secretary for her best friend Fran. She also worked as a secretary at the church for a short time before her illness. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and relished that she was here to see her husband retire and all of her children grow up to be happy and successful. She was an active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Ladies Group and a volunteer of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital Guild. Through her years, Linda took in many leisure activities including bowling, papier tole and other crafts. She enjoyed her days at the family cottage in Matlock, Sunday dinners with family and taking pictures at each and every occasion. The family would like to thank all of the staff in Unit 4 at the Victoria Hospital for all their compassionate care. A special thanks to Martha McDowell for prayers and overwhelming support in the last few months. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 709 St. Marys Rd., Rev. Martha McDowell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Linda to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or a charity of choice.
