WILLIAM (WILLY) DAVID RIDD 1920 - 2003 Peacefully on December 19, 2003, William Ridd passed away at the Maples Personal Care Home. Born in Winnipeg, August 26, 1920, Willy enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery at the age of 20 and was posted overseas. While stationed in Britain he met Kathleen (Kitty) Green and they married in Colchester England, October 1943. Following the war Willy maintained his service with the CA Reserves from 1956 to 1962. He was employed with the CPR and later with Canada Post. The couple retired to acreage in Woodlands, MB in 1985, moving to Lions Manor, Stonewall in 2001. An active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Brooklands and Weston Branch, Willy loved to dance. A quiet man, he was very proud of his family and their many accomplishments. He always enjoyed family gatherings, the most recent being the celebration of 60 years of marriage with Kitty. Beside his loving wife, Willy is survived by six children: sons, David, (Dorothy), Kim (Deidre), Russell (Carol) and Todd (Shane) daughters, Roxanne Howard (Brian), and Kristina Ridd; eight grandchildren, Scott Ridd, Kimberly Baehnk (Dennis), Tanya Desjarlais (Roger), Jason Howard, Sean and Lauren Ridd, Clay and Cole Ridd; great-grandson Austin Baehnk; nephew John Smith (Rita) niece Cheryle Sosnowski (Mike). Parents, Edwin and Isabel; and brothers, Robert and Edward predeceased him. The family would like to thank the staff of Maples Home for the wonderful care given him during his brief residence there. Special thanks also to Kathy Turner, Continuing Care Coordinator in Stonewall, and Randall and the nursing staff at Stonewall Hospital. A service of remembrance will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23 at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Ave., Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. I love you, my Bill. Farewell Dad.
