LLOYD VICTOR SPICER December 20, 1936 - December 8, 2003 Lloyd Victor, oldest son of the late A.V. Spicer and Muriel (Nixon), died at Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, after a very brief hospitalization from complications arising from his courageous and inspiring journey with a rare cancer - mesothelioma. Lloyd was predeceased by his father Alfred Victor (Vic) and an infant daughter Vivki Irene. He is survived by his wife Ailsa; his mother Muriel Spicer; Joanne (Doug) Dusik and her daughters, Tawni and Kendal; Robert and his daughters, Jessica and Rebecca; his son Victor; sister Doreen (Ed) Sage; brothers, Donald (Lorna), Howard, their children and grandchildren; cousins and friends. Lloyd attended Roaring River School and Swan River High School. He worked in Swan River and became a journeyman electrician. He then attended SAIT in Calgary, completing a drafting and engineering program. His work took him to many interesting places, including Churchill, and Rankin Inlet. He was employed by CAE in Winnipeg for a number of years before going into business for himself. He spent these last years running, with son Victor, a plastics fabricating business, Gnome Technologies. His last day of work was Friday, December 5, when a new project came in. He was excited about starting to work on it on Monday. John Bouchard, friend and employee, was a tremendous help during this last year. Lloyd was a quiet, pleasant person who could see some good in everyone and in every situation. Life dealt him some very difficult times, but he always relied on his philosophy of positive thinking. He had infinite patience, especially figuring out how to do a new project or explaining it to someone else. His family and friends always appreciated his wicked sense of humour. He had been an Air Cadet in Swan River and had earned his pilots licence through one of their programs. Recently, Lloyd was planning on renewing his pilots licence. No matter how many years he had lived, Lloyd would never have been able to say that he had everything done. The family extends thanks to the Oncology Team at Victoria Hospital for their caring and support during Lloyds treatments and the ER Team for helping his passage be dignified and comfortable. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service. If friends so desire, they may make a donation in Lloyds memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
